Competition in New Zealand is extremely stiff, with so many great builders across the country, here at David Reid Homes we are proud and grateful to have our franchises receive 3 of the 6 highly commended slots for the Group Home Builders Category.
In this blog, we’ll take you through the three highly commended franchises and the homes that won them that title.
#1 David Reid Homes Auckland - Pukekohe
Our Pukekohe franchise covers the area south of Auckland from Drury to Mercer. It’s been headed by Brendon Hamill since 2008 who has over 30 years of experience building high quality homes. Attracted to David Reid Homes for the value placed in exceeding client expectations and commitment to delivering their dream custom, architecturally designed home.
The home that won the franchise the award is the ever-popular pavilion style home in the Northridge development in Pukekohe. “This contemporary north-facing single, level pavilion home is built for everyday living, with flowing alfresco spaces for all to enjoy” was the comment given with the award.
With generously proportioned living and alfresco spaces, this 3 bed, 2 bath, 262 m2 home is the entertainers dream. Open plan living/dining/kitchen flows seamlessly to the outdoor decking which enjoys expansive views of Rangitoto Island and the Auckland Sky Tower in the distance.
Further to the 3 bedrooms, this pavilion layout offers a separate study/entrance nook, scullery, media room and large laundry, perfect for families. The award winning Cube Dentro kitchen is fabulously striking with its black soft matte cabinetry, brass detailing, stunning pendants and touches of cedar throughout.
#2 David Reid Homes Wellington and Kapiti
David Reid Homes has been serving the discerning clients of Wellington since 2003, producing some of the best custom architecturally designed homes in the region. Our Wellington and Kapiti David Reid Homes franchise merged in 2009 to create one franchise that goes from strength to strength under director Tim Sunderland.
The home that won Tim and his team the highly commended accolade is one of their feature homes in the Ferndale subdivision of Kapiti. “Contemporary styling with a mix of neutral colour tones, textures and natural materials combine to create a light-filled relaxing retreat within a leafy, eco-friendly subdivision” TIDA said of the home.
The 3 bed, 2 bath home was custom designed with relaxed living in mind. A high 3.6m pitch of the cedar ceiling in the living area is complemented by the vertical cedar feature wall in the entrance and hallway. Other features include a gas ducted central heating system and both covered and uncovered outdoor entertaining areas to complete the dream Kiwi lifestyle.
The custom home is completed with its stylish and contemporary styling and finishes. A mix of neutral colour tones, textures and natural materials all combine to add to the feeling of a light and airy relaxing retreat.
#3 David Reid Homes Waikati and South Canterbury
Our Waitaki and South Canterbury franchise covers south of the Rangitata River to Moeraki/Palmerston, which includes Timaru, Oamaru, Twizel and Tekapo.
Owners Aaron and Nikky Mackay are proud to be part of raising the standard of homes built in the region with their custom and architecturally designed builds. Aaron has 15 years of experience in the building industry, both in New Zealand and in Australia, and now enjoys managing his team of builders to ensure clients have a fluid building experience from start to finish.
The franchise has had previous success in the Registered Master Builders House of the Year competition, winning gold for all three of their entries. The house that won them a TIDA Highly Commended category is their new Weston Road, Oamaru show home.
The 3 bed, 3 bath home is completed with an additional media room and study. Designed to perfectly frame the sections, its bold contemporary lines drew the comment “Open plan living, kitchen and dining areas connect to the decks and outdoor spaces to provide a seamless alfresco lifestyle in this home” at the TIDA.
Alfresco living in the form of open plan living/kitchen/dining areas that glide seamlessly onto the decks and outdoor living spaces. The design of this home allows for natural light and warmth to fill all three of the bedrooms, with underfloor heating and a central gas fireplace completing this warm and inviting Oamaru home.
We would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to the three David Reid Homes franchises who were given the Highly Commended accolade at the 2020 TIDAs. Our custom, architecturally designed homes are always finished to the highest of standards, which wouldn't be possible without the entire team that works so hard to produce such high quality homes. Well done teams, looking forward to the 2021 TIDAs already.
