David Reid Homes Wins 4 Regional Awards at House of the Year 2025

  • The 2025 Registered Master Builders House of the Year regional results are out, and David Reid Homes is celebrating four award-winning projects across Wellington, Kāpiti, Hawkes Bay, and Auckland. From coastal sanctuaries to contemporary townhouses, each of these homes has been crafted the David Reid Homes way, with the utmost attention to detail, and made unique to each client.

    Wellington & Kāpiti

    Industrial Calm — Regional Silver

Awarded a Regional Silver, this beachfront home blends industrial edge with beachside tranquillity. Polished-concrete floors with underfloor heating and a steel-balustrade staircase nod to its urban influences, while bespoke cabinetry and a butler’s pantry elevate the home beautifully. Paired with large sliding doors and a spacious deck, uninterrupted views of Kāpiti Island can be enjoyed from the kitchen, living, and dining areas. The home is a bold yet grounded response to its coastal setting, proving that contemporary living can be both robust and refined.

    Elevated Ease — Regional Gold

Taking out Regional Gold, this 253sqm Kāpiti Coast build is a masterclass in coastal elegance. Wrapped in weathered timber cladding that takes inspiration from the tones of driftwood and dunes, it features expansive windows to let natural light flow in and to capture ocean views at every opportunity. The upper level is devoted to relaxed open-plan living that flows seamlessly to a sheltered barbecue courtyard, while the main suite feels like a private retreat. Downstairs, guest bedrooms and a secondary lounge provide space and comfort for visitors. The home mixes modern design, while borrowing hues from its surrounding landscape making it a luxurious, tranquil space.

Window on the Waves — Regional Silver

This bay-side home overlooking Wellington Harbour earned a Regional Silver for its refined design and liveability. Upstairs, a statement kitchen anchors the open-plan living area, oriented to capture sweeping views, while a tranquil library and study bring balance at the rear. Below, the north-facing main suite and guest bedrooms flow onto landscaped grounds that step gently towards the water. With weathered timber cladding and muted finishes throughout, the home is as composed and sophisticated as it is warm and welcoming. It’s a retirement-ready sanctuary that responds beautifully to its waterfront site.

    Auckland Central

    Perfect Ten — Regional Silver

Awarded a Regional Silver, this Mission Bay development demonstrates urban living at its best. Designed in collaboration with MCooper Architects, the project delivers ten townhouses across a mix of layouts, from compact two-bedroom homes to three-bedroom residences with sweeping city and gulf views. Sustainable timber cladding, crisp white interiors, and fully tiled bathrooms give each home a contemporary edge. Outdoor patios, decks, and gardens create a sense of openness, while clever orientation makes the most of the elevated site. It’s a striking development that proves thoughtful design can thrive at scale.

    East Coast & Hawke’s Bay

Crafted for Connection — Regional Gold

Taking home Regional Gold, this Pavilion-style home is a striking composition of natural textures and architectural form. Clad in stone and charred timber, the exterior strikes a timeless yet contemporary note, while inside, herringbone timber flooring and custom detailing set a warm, refined tone. A standout feature is the self-contained loft suite above the garage, accessed by an external spiral staircase, offering versatility for guests, family or, work. Anchored by a limestone fireplace, the living space flows seamlessly to outdoor areas where landscaping and a pool feel embedded in the architecture. Every detail, from local materials to skylit interiors, reflects a home crafted with thought, elegance and connection at its core.

These awards are a proud achievement for our teams, who put so much dedication and craft into every build. From the Wellington & Kāpiti crew delivering three standout coastal homes, to our Auckland Central team creating a striking urban development, and our Hawke’s Bay team crafting a showstopping family home, each project is a reflection of the talented people behind it.

Congratulations to all the teams involved for setting the bar high once again at the 2025 House of the Year Awards.
