New Franchise Bringing David Reid Homes to the Wairarapa

David Reid Homes are delighted to announce Claire Iggulden and Mike Carson as the owners of the new Wairarapa franchise.
Bringing 19 years of experience between them to the table, the two are excited to help you create your custom built luxury home in the beautiful Wairarapa region.

Having worked in both New Zealand and Australia, Mike has been building luxury homes ever since he completed his apprenticeship all those years ago. He loves to be onsite and involved with the entire build process to ensure the clients wants are always met. With a background in build estimation and operations management, Claire makes up the other half of the franchise, together creating a perfect pair to bring your new dream home to life. The two recently completed their own home build, with the added time pressure of a baby on the way. When asked about the process, Claire quipped, “our son’s first stop out of the hospital at two days old was the job site for a meeting with the plumber!”
With several award winning homes under their belt, Mike and Claire decided to take the exciting opportunity to bring David Reid Homes to their home district, Wairarapa.

Just an hour's drive north of Wellington City, the Wairarapa has no shortage of things to do and beautiful scenery to enjoy. Whether you’re after a beachy coastline to enjoy in the Summer weather, or the Vineyards that offer year round tastings and delicious food at several of them is more your calling, the Wairarapa has something for everyone. Winter provides no shortage of things to do either. The winter events calendar are highlighted with the Mid Winter Christmas Festival in Greytown and the Matariki Celebrations in Masterton.
The Tararua Ranges separate the region from the Manawatu and Wellington, providing a welcome barrier from the windy West coast. This means that more often than not, the Wairarapa will enjoy warmer temperatures, less wind and less rain than its Western neighbour.

When asked what their favourite part of the build process is, Claire and Mike both agree that nothing beats when the frames go up.
“When the frames go up, you walk through, and your vision starts to take shape. It’s the most exciting stage of the build and no matter how many houses we build it always is the best stage” they noted.

This new David Reid Homes franchise is currently made up of a crew of four builders, Mike, Logan, Camden and Travis, under the expert guidance of Mike and Claire. The team will look to expand as they grow in the Wairarapa region, but will always value full control over their luxury builds while keeping quality and time management at the forefront of their minds, no matter how great David Reid Homes Wairarapa expands. The two also encourage sustainability in their builds, making efforts to minimise wastage and get creative to ensure there is no unnecessary excess where possible.

Mike and Claire are passionate about building and designing bespoke homes for their clients. Their dedication for custom design even flows into their family holidays, where Claire describes looking at homes in the destination area as almost a tradition for them, with ice cream bribery to keep the kids happy, of course. A particular favourite for the couple to find inspiration from in the past has been over the hill in Kapiti, where they have enjoyed meeting with Tim Sunderland, our David Reid Homes Wellington franchisee, to view showhomes in the area.

With several new developments in the Wairarapa, including Cashmere Oaks, Tararua Junction in Greytown and more on the way, the two are always looking for new ideas to create unique custom home designs and are excited to get started developing the David Reid Homes legacy in the region.
