As part of our We Love New series showcasing our clients' homes around the country, we visited Alister & Marie in Arrowtown to hear their experience of building a new home after living in their previous home for 50 years.
At first, building a new home didn't appeal to Alister, but after chatting with the David Reid Homes Queenstown team, he changed his mind. The couple loved that the whole build process was effortless and finished to such a high standard it was as if the David Reid Homes team "were building a home for themselves".
Alister and Marie's favourite area in their new home which looks out to the beautiful mountain ranges in Otago.
One aspect of the home Alister and Marie share a love for is an area in their open plan dining area beside their kitchen where they can open a set of glass sliding doors that welcome stunning views of the mountains. Alister loves that the views of The Remarkables and Coronet Peak can be seen on one terrace and Old Arrowtown on the other.
The exterior and interior feature stark whites and deep wooden colours to give a clean and sleek look. Soft lighting choices throughout the home allow the home to feel warm and modern. The home also features a media room, an outdoor living area, a fireplace, and large windows to create functional and inviting living spaces.
Marie's new kitchen is one of her favourite spaces in their home.
Marie shares, "I love my new kitchen; it's so easy to work in". Featuring a scullery, warm lighting and a large marble bench top- it's easy to understand why Marie is so fond of the kitchen.
Alister and Marie were impressed with how the David Reid Homes Queenstown team worked alongside them to achieve their "vibe" for their new three bedroom, two bathroom home.
