Experience the new in Wanaka, Central Otago

In a new series of showcase videos, David Reid Homes visit their clients around New Zealand as they proudly share the new homes they love. What better place to start this series than with a dream home, in a dream location in Wanaka, Central Otago, at the home of Suzanne Moody and Greg Hughes. 

This home and its design are testaments to how David Reid Homes works with clients to build new homes. Set in the Kirimoko Sub-division, the double-tiered property exudes modern architectural elegance on a beautifully landscaped section. A mix of dark timber and stonework clad the house, and a shed-style roof maximises the house's vertical space. The high sides of the house face the expansive mountain views at the back of the property and provide the living areas with high ceilings and great natural light. 

A principal requirement for Suzanne and Greg in building their new home was to ensure that it had spaces that would bring them daily joy and happiness. Some features that have helped them achieve this are a full mosaic splash-back in the kitchen, a double-sided fireplace that keeps the living areas warm during the cold Otago winters and a viewing platform at the bottom of the landscaped garden. The viewing platform is a great space for enjoying the mountain views with a glass of Pinot Noir.

New and old live harmoniously in the impressive in-floor wine cellar. It's the perfect new space to nurture Suzanne and Greg's collection of older vintages. It is also a spectacular addition to the living area and will be an ongoing attraction for visitors who will no doubt get to enjoy an old vintage or two in this new home. As Suzanne and Greg put it, "That's what you get for building a new home. You get to do crazy stuff".   

The in-floor wine cellar is ideally positioned to enjoy a glass of wine on the sofa or the viewing platform.
