Brett Christie, who comes from a structural engineering and development background, joined the David Reid Homes family at the beginning of 2018 and has since been on a mission to elevate the standard of medium-density living in Auckland City. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for quality, he immediately set his sights on creating medium-density homes that don't just meet expectations, but exceed them. 

Redefining Medium Density Living

Medium-density housing often carries a stigma of being low quality, with many compromises on aesthetics and materials. Brett saw this as a challenge rather than a limitation. "I wanted to change the view of medium density," Brett explains. "It doesn’t have to mean compromising on space, materials, or design. We can create larger, better homes with superior materials."

There’s nothing better,” Brett shares. “Seeing someone when they receive their keys, knowing they are 100% satisfied, that’s what it’s all about.”

Building More Than Homes – Building Relationships

While the main focus for Brett and his team is medium-density developments, he also enjoys doing single-home builds for individual clients. He relishes the chance to interact directly with the homeowners on these projects.

For Brett, building homes is about more than just construction; it’s about building relationships. Over the time it takes to plan and build someone’s home (sometimes 2-3 years), they become like family. “You become a big part of their lives,” Brett reflects. “When you see your old clients in the street and they come up to hug you, it’s a testament to the bond you’ve built.”

One of Brett’s first developments with David Reid Homes was in Howick, in which his brother purchased 1 unit. “He loved living there,” Brett recalls proudly. “Reflecting on our journey, we’ve done some amazing stuff. It’s a proud moment when people see it and know they can trust our work.”
