A Natural Next Step

Both Alex and Josh are no strangers to the building scene in Southland. Before launching the franchise, Alex ran his own residential building company for several years, while Josh worked as a foreman in residential construction and also spent time in the aluminium joinery industry as a project manager and sales lead.

The decision to step into the David Reid Homes network felt like a natural progression. “We’ve built homes for the previous franchise owner,” says Alex. “We always enjoyed working on those high-spec projects. David Reid Homes builds really stand out.”

From pavilion-style homes to unique custom designs, it was the attention to detail and architectural style that drew them in. Now, they’re proud to lead the next chapter of David Reid Homes in Southland.

“Every build is different, and that’s what we love,” says Alex. “It’s about guiding people through the journey and creating something that truly suits their lifestyle.”

Both Alex and Josh have deep roots in the Southland community. Having grown up in the region, they’ve built long-standing relationships with local trades, suppliers, and clients.

“There’s a lot of word of mouth down here,” says Alex. “People want to work with someone they know they can trust.”

From involvement in local sports clubs to years spent working with the same contractors, their reputation for reliability is already well established. That local knowledge also comes in handy when it comes to understanding what Southlanders are looking for in a home.

“People want space,” says Alex. “Big garages, generous layouts, room for the kids and the toys, especially out in the rural areas.”

Something New on the Horizon

The team are already hard at work planning their first show home, which is set to begin construction soon.

“It’ll be a 140-square-metre townhouse with a gable design,” Josh shares. “It’s two-storey with a loft bedroom and an office upstairs. It’s compact but full of features - two bathrooms, three bedrooms, and it shows that we’re not just about big homes. We can do smart, functional design on any scale.”

Once complete, the show home will offer clients a chance to see the quality of a David Reid Homes build up close, and get inspired for their own project.
