Saturday the 27th of February was the grand opening for Scott Hare and the David Reid Homes Taupo team. The Taupo franchise extends across much of the Central Plateau, through to the Waitomo and Otorohanga Districts, to South Waikato, and of course the Greater Taupo District. David Reid Homes has been building in this area since 2004, and Scott is an experienced and pro-active builder and project manager, with 13 years of experience behind him.

Scott is skilled and highly regarded in the industry for his effective management and efficiency, always ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest of standards. Two-storey and architecturally designed, this home is the family living and entertainer’s dream. Features include a designer kitchen and scullery, complete with a separate bar and media room. The bar/drinks area is finished with a polished granite bench top, and smokey glass shelves for storage. The open plan kitchen living area takes advantage of the sunny outlook, with large sliding doors that effortlessly open out to a wraparound deck (complete with louvre system to provide shade, shelter and year round entertaining).

One of Scott’s favourite parts of this home is the media room. Fitted with a recessed 65 inch TV, the stunning cedar feature wall is the brainchild of Scott’s inspiration of extending the external cladding into the interior. Luxurious finishings such as the barn door on a matte black track with soft close, as well as the smart Velux skylight. This is remote controlled, powered by a solar panel, for the opening and closing of the window and blackout blind - for letting extra airflow and light. It also has automatic rain sensors to close in the event you might leave the home and leave them open.

This custom architecturally designed home is the definition of ‘it’s all in the details’. The generous guest bathroom is finished with sophisticated gunmetal grey tap ware and towel rails, a luxurious freestanding, back-to-wall bathtub and underfloor heating powered by hydraulics. 

Walk from the guest bathroom past the American Ash timber screens and go up the floating steel stringer staircase in the same timber to the second storey.  The master bedroom includes a feature ceiling of hardiegroove with batons. The master ensuite is fitted with floor to ceiling black metallic tiles, double his and hers shower heads, double vanities with titan steel tap ware, and most impressively, another smart Velux skylight.
