Options can be endless when it comes to building a home; should it have three bedrooms or four, one living room or two, should the roofline be Gable-ended, mono-pitched or flat?
David Reid Homes offers clients the freedom to design and build their perfect home from scratch, while also offering them a tried and tested range of pre-designed plans.
David Reid Homes Southland director Andrew Wheeler says selecting a home from the Smart Solutions range can be both time and cost effective, while still providing an on-trend home.
“The designs have been updated over the years, constantly evolving and picking up new trends," says Andrew.
“A lot of thought has been put into the designs to make them cost effective and obviously they are quicker, because you don’t have that design time."
Pre-designed plans also cut down time for the builders as most of the questions have already been asked, and they already have the specifications.
“Quite a few have been built before and all the snags have been worked out,” says Andrew.
David Reid Homes also offers more complex architecturally designed pre-planned homes, for which they have spent time with designers looking at what is popular in the market.
“Once again they are beneficial in terms of speeding up the process, it gives you a really good base to start with and we can tweak them to suit your living requirements,” says Andrew.
As experts in design and build, the pre-designed homes can provide inspiration for clients wanting to create their own design, he says.
“They are really helpful for sitting down with clients and seeing the sort of style they like, it makes a good starting point to help speed up the design process.”
As David Reid Homes continues to build custom designed homes, they too provide inspiration for future builds.
“We quite often pull out some of our unique plans, because they have been built and quantity surveyed, they have been through the process,” says Andrew.
Andrew recommends talking to staff at David Reid Homes offices throughout the country about the design and build options available.
It’s also a good idea to visit the various show homes for inspiration, as these often contain the latest design and fixture trends that you can see and experience in person.
