In only its first two days of being open, the latest Waikato showhome saw thousands of feet walk through the front door.
Situated on one of Hamilton North’s main roads, David Reid Homes Waikato director Ben Green says there was a lot of interest from passers-by before the home opened.
“Location is everything, we wanted it to be somewhere people would see it … 20,000 cars use that road each week so there was a lot of anticipation of [the showhome] opening,” he says.
With prime locations can often come tricky builds, and the Waikato showhome was very much designed and built to fit the landscape, says Ben.
“The house has been designed around the site, the site is sloping on three sides effectively, so we had to come up with something that was going to fit the site,” he says.
This is not uncommon for David Reid Homes builds, which are often situated on challenging sites with good views.
“We seem to encounter a lot of tricky sites doing what we do; we’re not known as straightforward builders, we are known for more boutiquey, architectural type homes,” says Ben.
“Architectural homes normally have pretty stunning views, and with those you get hills,” he adds.
The result of the new showhome is a spacious five bedroom, three and a half bathroom pavilion-style house, which complements the sloping section, and is complete with a home office, media room, and garaging for up to three vehicles.
“I wanted to do something that had a bit of impact with it … I had some pictures of an old showhome I did which I showed to the designer, and I said I also wanted a pavilion type style and that’s what he came up with, and it went from there,” says Ben.
Measuring in at 365 square metres, the spacious home boasts generously sized bedrooms, living and media rooms, and the home office on the lower level of the house allows separation from the living area upstairs.
It has been described as the best showhome in the Waikato since it’s opening.
