In early 2019, we started off with welcoming new franchisee owner Warren Jardine to David Reid Homes Hawkes Bay. Warren has bought a wealth of building knowledge and experience with him after having run a construction company for 18 years. Joining David Reid Homes has meant Warren can now offer luxurious home builds to his many clients in the Hawkes Bay region.
Mid year saw a David Reid Homes Counties build win the 2019 TIDA New Zealand Kitchen of the Year Award that took place in McLaren Auckland's showroom. The award winning kitchen was designed by Leonie Metge from Cube Dentro . The home was set in the rural township of Whitford, South-East Auckland. The acclaimed kitchen featured a lowered ceiling to assist in defining the kitchen in order to create a more intimate space next to the living and dining areas. The kitchen was also accompanied by soaring cathedral ceilings and exposed steel beams in the living and dining areas. Another of Leonies kitchens also received a Highly Commended Award in the TIDA New Zealand Designer Kitchen of the Year Awards and this same kitchen also received the Master Joiners Awards, Best Kitchen Design Award.David Reid Homes were proud to be the match day sponsor for the Ranfurly Shield in July which saw Otago winning against the Thames Valley Swampfoxes 41-21. Chris Leith from David Reid Homes Wanaka and Central Otago got right in behind this event after being involved with rugby in the region for many years. Also attending the match was our Chief Executive, Ben Allan who loved seeing David Reid Homes supporting such an iconic match in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful towns.
Our focus on Medium Density Housing started this year with Director of David Reid Homes Auckland, Brett Christie who, over the past year has been focusing on a project in Abercrombie Mews in Howick. This exciting boutique development features 7 townhouses, with the convenience of easy-care and low maintenance apartment-style living with generous floor space, 4 bedrooms, garaging, intercom, security system and an internal lift. Brett’s high level of understanding of property development, structural engineering and building processes has enabled the opportunity for Auckland residents to purchase well designed David Reid Homes finished products that are comfortable and modern yet, easy to maintain.
As well as gaining the opportunity to sponsor the event as the naming right sponsors of the iconic Peak to Peak in Queenstown, Franchise Owners of David Reid Homes Queenstown, Fraser and Abi MacKenzie also entered two teams in to this event, both of which had a fantastic day taking part in this exciting multisport race in the deep South.The awards success continued for David Reid Homes with Nikki and Aaron McKay and their team from David Reid Homes Waitaki / South Canterbury having come away with awards for three of their homes at the Registered Master Builder Awards 2019. One of their houses Out of the Blue was a regional category winner at the awards and went on to win the national New Home up to $450,000 category. Their second house named Burning Desire won a Gold Award as well as claiming the category winner for the Regional Lifestyle Award. David Reid Homes Counties also won the regional award for their architecturally designed five-bedroom family home in Karaka Lakes in Auckland.
